Alberta House to hold reception on Saturday, March 4

SAULT STE. MARIE — March is definitely a multi-media month in Alberta House with the work of members of four area art organizations filling both galleries. Probably no show provides more color or more variety than this one. Some of the exhibit items may be seen in the March “Alberta House News”, a free download on the Sault Area Arts Council website: www.saultarts.org. The exhibits will be in place March 1 through 31. The public is invited to meet the artists at their reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. Alberta House is located at 217 Ferris Street, just south of Portage and across the street from the VFW Hall. VA to Host Veteran Town Hall in Bay Mills on March 8

IRON MOUNTAIN – Veterans and their families are invited to a Veteran Town Hall at the Bay Mills Resort & Casino in Brimley, Michigan, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 2 p.m. The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting the town hall in the Horizon Conference Center located at 11386 W. Lakeshore Dr. The town hall is open to all Veterans and their families and friends.
Leaders from the VA medical center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and the Mackinaw County Veterans Service Office will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA benefits and services, discuss updates to the Veterans Choice Program and other initiatives to increase access to VA healthcare, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.
“We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans’ concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have,” said Brad Nelson, Public Affairs Officer at the Iron Mountain-based VA Medical Center.
The medical center will also be hosting Veteran Town Halls on Wednesday, March 8, at American Legion Post 3 in Sault Ste. Marie at 6 p.m. and on Thursday, March 9, at VFW Post 5144 in Saint Ignace at 6 p.m.

Local Garden Knowledge Sharing Day
The event takes place on Saturday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bay Mills Community College- West Campus - Migizi Hall.
The discussion will include information on seed saving and planning, water saving techniques, cultivating oyster & shiitake mushrooms, pests, plant disease and more.
Participation is free and open to all.
