Soo Co-op Credit Union announces new branch manager

SAULT STE. MARIE — Soo Co‐op Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Monique Matthews to branch manager for the Brimley /Bay Mills Branches effective Aug. 21.


Matthews started her career with Soo Co‐op Credit Union in the Member Solutions Department in June 1992. She then became a Member Solutions Department Manager before moving to a multi role as Loan Officer, Credit Committee Chairperson and Member Solutions Department Manager in 2005.

 

As branch manager, Matthews will be responsible for all daily operations at the branch, providing leadership to staff and developing new business relationships. Matthews has 25 years of financial services experience and has worked at Soo Co‐op Credit Union since her hire in 1992. “My past 25 years’ experience with Soo Co‐op Credit Union has prepared me for this new position and I look forward to serving the Community of Brimley and Bay Mills.

 

Most recently Matthews served as manager of the Member Solution Department with a dual role as Loan Officer as well. “Monique is the right person to lead our team in the Brimley/Bay Mills Community," said Soo Co‐op Credit Union’s President and CEO, Lynda Ellis. “Her extensive background in Lending and deep commitment to Soo Co‐op Credit Union’s core values create the perfect combination to serve our members.”

 

Matthews will be taking over from current Branch Manager Tammy Ellis who has decided to retire as of Sept. 22. Ellis started her career at Soo Co‐op Credit Union 20 years ago as a teller and worked her way up to Branch Manager of the Brimley/Bay Mills Branches. “Tammy has been a wonderful employee and we are appreciative of her dedicated service,” said Ellis. “She will be missed by our members and employees, but I know that they will join me in wishing her the best in her retirement.”
