United Way of the EUP announces program 2017-2018 funding

May 26, 2017

SAULT STE. MARIE — For 60 years, United Way of the EUP has been investing in programs and initiatives that change community conditions for the better. The Board of Directors from United Way of the EUP have announced funding awards for the 2017-2018 community investment cycle.

“This year the Citizen’s Review Panel showed a high-level of engagement in decision making. The volunteers were responsive and forward thinking in determining funding amounts,” said Suzanne Prell, executive director for United Way.

Local non-profit agencies were given the opportunity to apply and present to the Citizen’s Review Panel what services their program provides, how they will use the funds to further their mission and goals, and measurable outcomes. Members of the review panel had the chance to ask questions of the agency representatives and score.

The United Way's Community Investment Committee utilizes scores from Citizen's Review Panels, along with the Finance Committee’s scores to make the final determination of how much funding each requesting agency will receive. A total of $81,661.43 will be distributed.

This year’s funded grant awards include:
