Construction Summit planned for April 4
March 22, 2017
SAULT STE. MARIE — On Tuesday, April 4, contractors and developers will gather at Lake Superior State University for an event put on by the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and the Economic Resource Alliance.
Presenters will include Kevin Sprague, PE and Joanne Gray, PE of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Gray will be discussing the current state of the new lock project and potential upcoming construction supply opportunities in Sault Ste. Marie.
Also in attendance will be Dawn Gustafson, Michigan Department of Transportation service manager for the Superior Region. She will be discussing the challenges of celebrating Sault Ste. Marie’s 350th Anniversary while constructing major operational changes on I-75 Business Spur and Ashmun Street.
Following these key economic discussions the EDC will also be featuring more information on the target marketing housing analysis through EUP Regional Planning and Development, the Brownfield Redevelopment Program as well as highlighting several key development sites to kick start this year’s construction season. The Home Builders Association of the Upper Peninsula will also be on site with resources.
According to the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation, with a successful turnout and feedback this event could lead to a larger Midwest Developer’s Summit in early 2018 with breakout sessions and continuing education credits.
If you would like to participate in this event, contact the EDC by March 29. Questions can be directed to EDC Specialist, Tracey Laitinen at tlaitinen@saultcity.com.
