Donna Lyons

     Donna A. Lyons of Brimley, Mich. died Oct. 13, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born on April 19, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. to Francis Sr. and Emily “Gladys” (Foster) LeBlanc.

    She enjoyed spending time with her family with many fond memories being shared, cooking, crocheting, knitting, bird watching, working her puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, and watching her favorite television shows daily. Donna loved the woods, whether it was riding around on back roads or gathering different things from nature that went into her homemade wreaths.

    She looked forward to the visits from local fishermen bringing her fresh fish. She was a member of the Bay Mills Indian Community and the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church.

    Donna is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Tim) Walden, Mary Hopper and Yvonne Lyons, and one son, Lorne (Carrie) Lyons, all of Brimley, Mich.; two sisters, Yvonne (Bill) Ogston and Linda (Ken) Teeple,  and two brothers, Elmer “Fudd” (Sandra) LeBlanc and Richard (Linda) LeBlanc, all of Brimley; 12 grandchildren, Stacey, Stephanie, Sandra, Timmy and Tony Walden, Joe Hopper, Shawn, Scott, Craig, and Casey Lyons, Gabe and Charlie Lyons; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is special friend, Deacon Aimie, and special niece. Anita.

    She is predeceased by her husband of close to 60 years, Francis Lyons; two sons, Francis “Shon,” Robert, and Lonnie Lyons; a grandson, Robert C. Walden; her parents; and three brothers, Emery Waishkey, Maurice Sr. and Francis LeBlanc Jr.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church with Father Ted Brodeur as celebrant along with Deacon Aimie LaPlante. Final resting place will be Mission Hill Cemetery at a later date.
